IMF Raises India’s GDP Growth Forecast to 7% for FY2026-27
WASHINGTON - The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has officially raised its growth estimate for India to 7% for the FY2026-27 period, up from its previous projection of 6.4%.
Released during the October World Economic Outlook meetings, the revised assessment attributes the upgrade to surprisingly strong economic activity within the country, heavily supported by domestic household demand and a booming services sector.
The IMF noted that India’s internal spending has successfully withstood global shocks and higher oil prices better than initially expected.
